Android 13 was released a couple of months ago, and it’s making its way over to more non-Pixel devices. Soon after releasing the update to the Zenfone 9 phones, Asus is trickling the software down to the older generation of phones. The company just launched Android 13 for the Zenfone 8 and Zenfone 8 Flip.

These phones launched back in May of 2021, and they were a compelling offering from the company. The Zenfone 8 was a more typical phone, but it was the Flip variant that garnered more attention. This was on account of the rear camera system that would swivel upward to double as the selfie camera system. This insured that your selfies were of good quality.

Android 13 makes its way to the Zenfone 8 phones

These launched with Android 11 in tow. There’s a chance that this will be these phones’ last major platform upgrade before being knocked down to just security updates. This current update has version number 33.0210.0210.210, and it’s coming to most regions with the exception of Japan at the moment.

Since this is a major platform upgrade, there are several changes coming to the software experience. For starters, the Quick Settings panel now has the revamped look. Most notably, the power and settings buttons are now on the bottom of the screen. This allows you to access them easier.

With the update, you can now allow or disallow apps to send you notifications. When you download a new app, you’ll be prompted to allow or deny notifications from that app. You’re also able to able to access the notifications permissions from the app’s settings.

Other changes include the “Auto delete” function for the clipboard, the ability to change the language on a per-app basis, the added QR code reader in the Quick Settings, adjusted haptics and vibrations, and plenty more. You can see the changelog below (via XDA Developers).
