Cyberpunk 2077 is due for its massive version 2.0 update this week as CDPR plans to push the update out to players on September 21. Just a few days before the launch of the game’s expansion Phantom Liberty which arrives on September 26. Now it’s not necessarily massive in the sense that there’s going to be a large collection of new areas to explore. You will get a new area with the expansion though.

It’s massive in the sense that there’s a ton of changes coming to the game. This includes a big skill overhaul. This is going to force players to have to set all their skills again. But it’s a necessary step given that tons of stuff was changed. So you’ll need to sit down and go through everything again and pick your play style. You can easily just pick stuff and see how things shake out. However it’s also possible to plan out your build if you want to jump back into the game knowing exactly what skills you want.

CDPR knows the skill changes are going to suck up a chunk of time for players. Luckily, there’s an official build planner from the studio where you can look at each and every skill. You can use it to slot in the skills you want to pick and distribute your skill points accordingly. And doing this now should save you some time later on. You can also set all skills and then share that build with friends.

The 2.0 update for Cyberpunk 2077 introduces vehicle combat and car chases

The perks and skill trees are just one of the changes coming with this update. CDPR is also adding in car chases and vehicle combat. So you finally have more use for that large car collection you may have acquired during your initial playthrough. Though, if you’re going to be engaging in vehicle combat, expect your cars to get a little messed up.

There’s a revamped police system being added in too. With this new system CDPR says NCPD will now be more like what you might expect. You’ll be punished for engaging in criminal activity and if NCPD should catch you, you’ll get no mercy. You’ll be able to install the new game update if you own Cyberpunk 2077 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, or PC.
