Last week, Samsung launched three new flagship Android tablets as part of the Galaxy Tab S9 lineup. But the Korean firm has more in the pipeline. It is readying a couple of “affordable” models in the same series. The Galaxy Tab S9 FE and Galaxy Tab S9 FE+ are expected to arrive later this year as new mid-range options. The Plus model recently passed through the FCC certification process on its way to launch.

The FCC has listed the Galaxy Tab S9 FE+ with the model numbers SM-X610 and SM-X616B (via MySmartPrice). We have seen both of these model numbers before, and they correspond to Wi-Fi and 5G versions of the tablet, respectively. The certification documents reveal that the device will boast 45W charging and S Pen support. Like the regular Galaxy Tab S9 models, it will also be compatible with keyboard accessories.

Furthermore, this tablet uses a battery pack with the model number EB-BX818ABY. It appears to be the same battery found inside the Galaxy Tab S9+, which packs a 10,090mAh unit. Previous rumors have suggested that the Galaxy Tab S9 FE+ will sport a 12.4-inch display, which is as big as the regular Galaxy Tab S9+. By the looks of it, the FE-branded tablet will be a stripped-down version of the flagship model.

As a cost-cutting measure, Samsung might equip it with an LCD screen instead of Dynamic AMOLED 2X, and switch to a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. The FE (Fan Edition) model will seemingly retain the dual rear camera setup, but we don’t have detailed specs. The FCC documents, meanwhile, reveal that the Galaxy Tab S9 FE+ boasts Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3. It is also expected to feature stereo speakers.

Samsung may launch the Galaxy Tab S9 FE+ and S9 FE later this year

Samsung’s new FE-series tablets have been in rumors for some time now, but the company didn’t unveil them during its Unpacked event last week. However, the Galaxy Tab S9 FE and Galaxy Tab S9 FE+ may not elude the market for much longer. They may arrive within the next few months. The vanilla model could be a stripped-down version of the regular Galaxy Tab S9.

We will keep a close eye on the developments around the two upcoming Samsung tablets. But if you don’t want to wait for the affordable models and are looking to pick up one of the new Galaxy Tab S9 flagships, they are now up for pre-order. Prices start at $799 for the vanilla model, $999 for the Plus model, and $1,199 for the Ultra model. You can trade in an eligible old tablet to lower the price. Samsung will open general sales of the tablets on August 11.
