The Tensor chip is Google’s in-house SoC, and it’s been powering the last two Pixel phones along with the Pixel Tablet. It’s powerful enough to run the company’s devices, but it’s been known to run particularly hot. However, according to 9To5Google, the Tensor G3 will run cooler than its predecessors.

This chip is slated to run the Google Pixel 8, which is going to launch early next month. So far, we know a fair bit about this phone and its Pro sibling, but there’s still a lot that we don’t know. The Tensor G3 could run cooler than the past chips

It’s not only important that a phone be powerful; it also has to remain relatively cool when you’re using it. Higher heat degrades the internal components even faster over time. So, heat management is crucial when creating a device.

Google has been working on reducing the heat of its Pixel phones and so has Samsung. The Korean tech giant is the company that manufactures the chip, so it plays a role in how the Tensor chip performs. Samsung has been making some changes into its fabrication process, but the company could implement a technology that will solve the Tensor’s heat management issue.

Samsung could use a process called FO-WLP (Fan-out Wafer-Level packaging). This process could lead to a reduction in the heat generated when using the phone.

Right now, it seems that Samsung will be the first company to bring this technology, so it’ll be exciting to see how this will affect the performance of the phone. We’re less than a month from the official announcement of this phone, so there’s not much time to wait.
