HONOR may be planning to launch a budget foldable smartphone soon, the Magic V2 Lite. That phone was mentioned by several tipsters, and it seems like it will be fueled by the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC.

HONOR is seemingly planning to launch a budget foldable soon, the Magic V2 Lite

As a reminder, the HONOR Magic V2 comes with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor. That device launched in China already, and will debut globally on September 1. That’s when the Magic V2 Lite may launch too, actually.

HONOR did tease that two smartphones are coming on September 1, but we’re not sure what the other one is. We’re guessing that it’s either the Magic V2 Lite, or the company’s first clamshell foldable. We’ll see.

Other than the SoC, however, we don’t have any other info on the Magic V2 Lite. It will obviously be considerably more affordable than the Magic V2. The guess is that it will be priced at around CNY5,000 ($686). For reference, the Magic V2 starts at CNY8,999 ($1,234).

The Magic V2 Slim was also mentioned by a tipster

Having said that, yet another foldable is mentioned by a tipster, the HONOR Magic V2 Slim. That is supposed to be a foldable phone with an outward-folding design. We’re guessing this is also a book-style foldable, like the Huawei Mate Xs 2.

We’ll have to wait until September 1 in order to find out which out of the three phones we’ve mentioned will launch alongside the Magic V2. Will it be the company’s first clamshell foldable, the first outward-folding handset, or the Magic V2 Lite, a budget variant of the Magic V2.

If we had to guess, we’d say that it will be either a clamshell device, or the Magic V2 Lite. The latter is more likely, however. We doubt that the company will announce an outward-folding device at IFA. Anything is possible, though.
