The HONOR V Purse is no longer a concept, the company officially announced the phone as a product, and shared all the necessary details. As a reminder, this fashion-forward foldable was first presented at IFA in Berlin earlier this month. It was presented as a concept phone, but it just launched in China.
The HONOR V Purse just became an actual product, here are the details
The HONOR V Purse is an outwards-folding smartphone that transforms into a digital purse, kind of. It’s a fashion-forward smartphone, but it can be used as a regular device, too, of course.
We haven’t really seen many outwards-folding smartphones out there, so this is certainly nice to see. Its fashion aspect is another story entirely, as you can get various straps for it, to transform it into an ultimate fashion accessory.
Having said that, during this launch, HONOR revealed the phone’s specs, and everything else you may want to know. We did not have any details regarding its specifications until now, because, as already mentioned, it was just a concept.
It’s less than 9mm thick, and yet a foldable phone
This smartphone is less than 9mm thick, which is shocking for a foldable. It’s even slightly thinner than the HONOR Magic V2, which is not difficult to believe, as this phone has only one display.
The HONOR V Purse is fueled by the Snapdragon 778G SoC, and it comes with 16GB of RAM. It is available in 256GB and 512GB storage options, and offers expandable storage.
When unfolded, you get access to a 7.71-inch display, in other words, an entire display. That display offers a resolution of 2348 x 2016 pixels, and it’s an OLED panel. It has a 1,600 nits peak brightness, and a 2,160Hz high frequency PWM dimming.
When folded, you’re left with a 6.45-inch display
When you fold the phone, you’re left with a 6.45-inch display with a resolution of 2348 x 1088. Everything else is the same, as that’s the same panel, but you just get to use a part of it when the device is folded.
A 4,500mAh battery is included in the package here, and 35W charging is also on offer. A charger is included in the package, by the way. A side-facing fingerprint scanner can be found on the right-hand side.
Android 13 comes pre-installed on the device, with HONOR’s MagicOS 7.2 skin on top of it. A 50-megapixel main camera (f/1.9 aperture) is backed by a 12-megapixel ultrawide unit (f/2.2 aperture). On the main display. You’ll find an 8-megapixel shooter (f/2.0 aperture).
The phone is equipped with Bluetooth 5.2, and stereo speakers. It measures 156.5 x 74.7 (135.6 when unfolded) x 4.3-8.6mm. It weighs 215 grams.
The HONOR V Purse comes in three color options
The HONOR V Purse has been announced in Camellia Gold, Elegant Black, and Glacier Blue colors. Its starting price tag in China is CNY5,999 ($822), and the phone is already available for (limited) pre-order in China.
We’re not sure if this phone will launch globally, but HONOR didn’t mention anything about it yet. If we had to guess, however, we’d say there’s a slim chance of that happening.
