Apple has announced watchOS 10 at WWDC this week, and it is now available for those that want to take it for a spin. This is actually one of the bigger updates to watchOS in quite some time. Almost every aspect of the operating system has been redesigned, at least a little bit. Apple has also added widgets to the watch, and made Control Center easier to get too.

  • Editor’s Note: It’s our duty to stress to you that beta’s are typically not very stable. So before you opt to install the watchOS 10 Developer Beta, you’re going to want to think about it. Typically, in these beta’s, there’s lots of bugs, battery life is typically worse, etc. So it’s wise not to install this on your main device.

How to download watchOS 10 Developer Beta

First up, you’ll need to open the Watch app on your iPhone.

From there, tap on General. And then on Software Update.

Now on this screen, you’ll see two more options, tap on “Beta Updates”.

From there, you’ll see a few options, you’ll want to tap on “watchOS 10 Developer Beta”.

Then tap on the back button.

You should see an update for watchOS 10 Developer Beta available now. Just tap on “Download and Install” to get started. If you don’t see it just yet, you might need to back out and jump back into Software Updates, so it can refresh and recheck for an update.

The update is pretty large, and it will need to be on the charger and charged above 50% before you can start installing it. This is because the update is large and will take some time. So Apple doesn’t want your watch to die in the middle of the update.

And after a few minutes, it’ll reboot and you’ll be in watchOS 10.

What watches support watchOS 10?

This year, Apple actually did not drop support for any Apple Watches. After it dropped support for the Watch Series 3 last year with watchOS 9. Now, Apple Watch Series 4 and later are supported.
