The Huawei Mate X3 makes its global debut, finally

The Mate X3 is not only quite thin, but it folds flat, and it offers an IPX8 rating for water resistance. It sure looks like an appealing book-style foldable, and proper competition to the Galaxy Z Fold series.

The Huawei Mate X3 has a large 7.85-inch 2224 x 2496 foldable OLED main display. That panel offers a refresh rate of up to 120Hz, and there’s also a display camera hole on the panel, as you can see. It has rather thin bezels.

The cover display measures 6.4 inches, and it’s also an OLED panel. This display has thin bezels too, and a centered display camera hole. It has a fullHD+ (2504 x 1080) resolution, and a 120Hz refresh rate.

It is fueled by the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC, and includes 12GB of RAM

The Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 fuels this smartphone, though it’s limited to 4G connectivity due to the US ban. Huawei included 12GB of RAM inside of this smartphone. Three storage variants got announced in China, but we still don’t have confirmation on which of these will be available globally.

A 50-megapixel main camera (f/1.8 aperture, OIS) sits on the back of this phone. A 13-megapixel ultrawide camera (f/2.2 aperture, 13mm lens) is also included, as is a 12-megapixel periscope telephoto camera (f/3.4 aperture, OIS, PDAF, 5x optical zoom). Each of the phone’s displays has an 8-megapixel camera on the inside (f/2.4 aperture).

66W wired charging is supported, as is 50W wireless charging

The phone includes a 4,800mAh battery, and supports 66W wired charging. A charger is included, by the way. 50W wireless charging is also supported, as is 7.5W reverse wireless charging.

Stereo speakers are included, while Bluetooth 5.2 is supported. EMUI 13.1 comes pre-installed on the device, while Google services are not included here due to the US ban. Huawei’s very own mobile services are a part of the package, however. There is also a side-facing fingerprint scanner.

It is quite light for its size, and also quite thin for such a foldable

The Huawei Mate X3 weighs only 239 grams, which is great for such a large foldable. It measures 156.9 x 141.5 x 5.3mm when unfolded, and 156.9 x 72.4 x 11.8mm when folded. Its thinness is also intriguing, as most of the competition is considerably thicker.

The phone will become available to purchase on May 22 for €2,199 in Europe. You can pre-order it starting today, though, from Huawei ecommerce and selected partners across Europe.
