One of the biggest changes Apple announced with the iPhone 15 Pro, hardware-wise, is the Action Button. That button replaces the mute switch present in basically every other iPhone other than the iPhone 15 Pro family. Having said that, the Action Button is customizable, but it doesn’t support the Translate app.

Well, that will change. Apple has confirmed as much on its website. In the fine print, it says that the Translate option will become available later this year. That was spotted by MacRumors.

Out of the box, you’ll be able to choose between 8 options. Those options are: Ring/Silent, Focus, Camera, Flashlight, Voice Memos, Magnifier, Shortcuts, and Accessibility.

Now, considering that the Shortcuts app is listed here, you can basically program that button to open anything on the phone. It will require you to jump through some hoops, but it’s doable. Do note that you’ll need to press and hold the button to make it do anything.

The Action Button sits above the volume up and down buttons. So it directly replaced the mute switch that used to sit there. The mute switch is still present on the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus, by the way.

Apple recently announced its new iPhones

Apple announced its new iPhones a couple of days ago, and the pre-order kick off today. The phones will go on open sale on September 22, in case you’re wondering.

The iPhone 15 Pro starts at $999, while the iPhone 15 Pro Max’s pricing kicks off at $1,199. One thing worth noting is that the smaller phone starts at 128GB of storage, while the larger one starts at 256GB.

Apple replaced stainless steel with titanium on both phones, making them lighter. The company also trimmed down the bezels a bit, so they’re also a bit smaller than their predecessors. New camera tricks and hardware are included, a new processor, and more.
