Samsung is rumored to launch a smart ring called the Galaxy Ring early next year. Some tipsters have claimed that the tiny new wearable device will debut during the Galaxy S24 launch event in January 2024. While this rumor hasn’t received backing from many reputed sources, a new piece of evidence has emerged hinting at a nearing unveiling of the ring.

A user recently decompiled Samsung’s Galaxy Wearable app, the smartphone companion for the company’s wearable devices. They found a new icon resembling a ring within the app files (via Revegnus). The app never had such an icon previously, at least not on the user-facing side. It appears Samsung is preparing Galaxy Wearable for the impending arrival of the Galaxy Ring. Perhaps it could already be internally testing the product.

Unfortunately, there was no text explanation to go with the ring icon. So this is all speculation for the time being. However, the discovery came just when Galaxy Ring rumors got more frequent. Samsung previously updated the Samsung Health app to add “Ring support,” confirming the presence of a smart ring in its pipeline. The latest sighting is more proof that the wearable is nearing its launch.

The Galaxy Ring could be a comprehensive health-monitoring solution

Rumors about a Samsung smart ring date back to a long time ago. However, things started to look more promising earlier this year. In July, the South Korean media reported that the company was almost done with the development work and was preparing for the mass production of key components. We have since gone on to spot references to the Galaxy Ring within Samsung products on two separate occasions now.

According to reports from the Korean firm’s home country, the Galaxy Ring will be a comprehensive health monitoring solution. Samsung took a long time to develop the product to ensure that the sensors embedded into the device can accurately measure your health data. The company wants better accuracy than smartwatches and other wrist-worn fitness trackers.

It appears Samsung is now ready with its first-gen Galaxy Ring. If these rumors turn out to be correct, we will see the device in a few months. Regulatory hurdles may delay its market release, but the wearable might make its first official public appearance in January next year. The company is reportedly considering launching the Galaxy S24 series a few weeks earlier than the Galaxy S23, which debuted on February 1, 2023.
