When you’re messaging people, sometimes texting it’s the best option. There are times when you just need to record a quick voice and send it off. This is why the Google Messages app has a voice recorder function. Well, according to Android Police, the new Google Messages voice recorder just leaked. This will show a different interface.
As it stands now, if you want to record a voice message on Google Messages, you have to hold your hand down on the microphone icon on the right side of the text field. Just like an intercom, you’ll hold your finger down as long as you want to record. Once you let go, the audio message will be put into a bubble that you can add text to before sending.
The new Google Messages voice recorder was spotted in the wild
Google has been testing a redesign of the Messages voice recorder over the past couple of months, and it looks like the company is gearing up to release it to the public. A Reddit user gained access to the new interface, and they posted a couple of screenshots.
In the screenshots, as see that the microphone icon will be replaced with a waveform icon. When you’re recording with the new interface, you won’t need to hold your finger down to record. You’ll see buttons to stop and start the recording, so you can record a message hands-free. If you need to, you can also attach a pre-recorded file to your message.
While you’re recording, you’ll see a waveform forming along with a counter at the top to keep an eye on how long the recording is. Once you’re done recording, you’ll be able to listen back to your recording before you send it. That’s a functionality that you don’t have with the current version of the recorder.
