OnePlus has indirectly confirmed the OnePlus Open launch date. This happened following the company’s confirmation that the device would launch “soon”.
So, what’s going on? Well, yesterday, OnePlus confirmed that the phone is right around the corner during TechCrunch Disrupt 2023. The date was not shared, though. Following that, a well-known tipster, Max Jambor, said that the phone will launch on October 19.
OnePlus decided to indirectly confirm the OnePlus Open launch date, in an odd way
Max Jambor is usually very accurate with OnePlus info, and it seems like he is spot on this time too. OnePlus actually reacted to his post. The “Eyes” emoji was shared by OnePlus’ official X handle (the USA one), as a response to Max Jambor’s post.
It’s rather easy to take that as a confirmation, actually. The company would ignore the post altogether or deny it if not true, this way they’re basically confirming the information. All that remains now is for OnePlus to officially confirm it, directly.
The OnePlus Open will become the company’s very first foldable smartphone
The OnePlus Open, as many of you know, will become OnePlus’ first-ever foldable smartphone. The device is rumored to be exactly the same as the OPPO Find N3. That probably means the Find N3 will remain exclusive to China.
The two phones will look the same, and their software will likely be similar. The OnePlus Open will lean towards the horizontal layout when unfolded, similar to what the Find N and N2 offered. However, the phone will be larger than both of those devices, it seems.
It will include larger displays than the OPPO Find N2, but a similar form factor
It is tipped to include a 7.8-inch main display, and a 6.2-inch secondary one. The OPPO Find N2 shipped with a 7.1-inch main unit, and a 5.54-inch secondary panel. Both of those panels will be 120Hz units, and the device will also include the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC.
The design of the OnePlus Open also leaked, in the form of CAD-based renders. So, there’s not much left to hide at this point, even though we’re almost a month away from the launch event, it would seem.
