According to a well-known tipster, the OnePlus Open has been rigorously tested for durability purposes. This information comes from Max Jambor, who is usually spot on when it comes to OnePlus-related info.
The OnePlus Open has been rigorously tested to reach a specific level of durability
The tipster says that the OnePlus Open has been put through plenty of testing. OnePlus is making sure it can survive 400,000 folds in its lifespan. That’s the equivalent of 100 folds per day, for 10 years. That’s plenty, actually.
Having said that, the OnePlus Open was expected to launch at the end of August, but the launch has been delayed. The reason is, allegedly, the display, as OnePlus opted to go for Samsung panels rather late.
It is now expected to launch in October, but we still don’t know the exact date. The OnePlus Open will basically look exactly like the OPPO Find N3, if the rumors and leaks are accurate.
Its design surfaced a while back
The phone already surfaced in CAD-based renders, giving us a look at its design. It will have flat sides, and will lean towards a horizontal orientation when unfolded, like the OPPO Find N2, and the Pixel Fold.
Considering a different orientation, it will be shorter than most book-style foldables, but also a bit wider. It will also feature larger displays than the Find N2, so keep that in mind.
This will become OnePlus’ first foldable smartphone, by the way, and the ‘Open’ name was confirmed not long ago. This handset will be making its way to global markets, based on everything we know thus far. So it’s expected to create more competition for Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold series, and that is needed.
We’re seeing more and more foldable smartphones in global markets, which is a good thing, of course. Samsung has been far ahead in terms of sales.
