Samsung‘s long-rumored smart ring, supposedly called the Galaxy Ring, might finally arrive next year. The Korean firm reportedly plans to launch it alongside the Galaxy S24 series. The new flagships are expected to arrive in January 2024, a few weeks earlier than the Galaxy S23 lineup.

The information comes courtesy of noted leaker Ice Universe. The tipster took to the Chinese social media platform Weibo (via) to share that the Galaxy Ring will be a “star product” during the Galaxy S24 launch in January next year. No other detail was revealed, but the words used by the tipster suggest the ring might steal some spotlight from the new Samsung flagships.

Samsung is nearing the launch of the Galaxy Ring

Samsung’s Galaxy Ring has been a long time coming. While we didn’t have much information about it early on, rumors are now getting more detailed. In April, we heard that the company wants to offer a comprehensive health monitoring solution that can deliver better accuracy than wrist-worn fitness trackers and smartwatches. It was taking its time to perfect the technologies powering these health solutions.

A few months later, reports emerged that the Galaxy Ring had reached an advanced developmental stage. That was followed by rumors that Samsung is gearing up for mass production of key components. All of this suggested a nearing launch of the wearable, but we never had a date or even a vague timeline. Some said regulatory approvals will delay its market arrival.

In the meantime, Samsung filed numerous trademark applications related to smart rings and peripheral technologies, including smartphone apps that can connect with a smart ring to show various health metrics. The latest of them came in late August, with the Korean firm protecting the moniker “Samsung Curio.” Amid all this, Samsung updated the Samsung Health app to add “Ring support” despite not having a product with that name.

After months of rumors, we finally have a tentative date for the launch of Samsung’s first-gen smart ring. If the new rumor is accurate, the Galaxy Ring will make its debut in January next year. It’s unclear if the product will be ready for market release immediately, though. The Korean firm may still be working through the regulatory processes to obtain approval for its use as a health monitoring device. Time will tell what Samsung brings to the Galaxy S24 launch in early 2024. We will let you know as soon as we have more information.
