TCL announced quite a few products at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show (CES). It announced some phones, tablets, and even a mini-LED TV. In addition to that, the TCL RayNeo X2 AR glasses were also got announced.

The TCL RayNeo X2 AR glasses come with full-color micro-LED displays

These glasses are fueled by the Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2 processor. They come with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. There is a full-color micro-LED display included in each lens. Those displays can get quite bright, at 1,000 nits at their peak.

You will also find a camera inside of these glasses, a 16-megapixel one, that can record fullHD video, and take pictures. On top of that, dual speakers are included in the temples.

TCL, of course, included some sensors here too. A gyroscope is included, and the same goes for the accelerometer, compass, and pressure sensor.

They are thicker than regular glasses, of course

Despite all of this, these glasses do look relatively normal. The temples are thicker than on regular glasses, though, as is the front side of the glasses. There is a cutout for the camera on the front too, and it’s easy to spot.

What can these glasses do, exactly? Well, they can act as your digital assistant. They can show you navigation instructions on the displays, for example, or you can consume some multimedia content on them.

They can translate different languages on the fly

These glasses can also translate different languages for you, on the fly. Listening to some music is also a possibility. There is sound leakage, of course, but at least you don’t have to wear earbuds/headphones.

Unlike previous offerings from the company, such as the NXTWEAR G, NXTWEAR AIR, and NXTWEAR S, these glasses can function on their own. They do not act as an extension of some other device.

TCL said that the glasses will first head out to developers in early 2023. The company said that they’ll go on sale later in 2023, but it did not specify when.
