Tecno is planning to launch a budget clamshell foldable, it seems. Its design and specs have just surfaced, leaving very little to the imagination. This phone follows the Tecno Phantom V Fold, the company’s first foldable smartphone, which was a book-style foldable.

If you take a look at the provided images below, you’ll get to see the Tecno Phantom V Flip 5G from all sides, and even its real-life images. That will be its official name, it seems. This phone will have an easily-recognizable design, actually.
The main display will be your usual deal, with a centered display camera hole. The cover display is what will be easily recognizable, though. The cover display sits inside the camera island, and it’s round. Around it, you’ll see the phone’s cameras and an LED flash.
That camera bump will be quite noticeable, not only because of the cameras themselves, but the display too. It’s an interesting look, but it remains to be seen how practical will it be.
There will be a power/lock key on the right side, which will double as a fingerprint scanner. The volume up and down buttons will also be included on the right side.
It will feature a 6.9-inch main panel, and a 1.32-inch cover display
Now, in regards to its specs. The main display will measure 6.9 inches, and it will be a fullHD+ (2640 x 1080) AMOLED display. The cover display will measure 1.32 inches, and it will also be an AMOLED panel, though it will have a 466 x 466 panel.
That cover display will be a lot smaller than it is on the latest foldables from OPPO, Samsung, and Motorola. Do note that this handset will also be a lot more affordable, though.
The MediaTek Dimensity 8050 SoC is said to fuel this phone. Tecno will also include 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. Android 13 is tipped to come pre-installed on the phone.
A 64-megapixel main camera will be backed by a 13-megapixel secondary shooter. We’re guessing that will be an ultrawide unit. A 32-megapixel selfie camera is also mentioned by the source.
It’s coming in three color options
The Tecno Phantom V Flip 5G will launch in Film White, Minimal Black, and Periwinkle Purple color options. The ones you can see in the provided images are the Minimal Black and Periwinkle Purple variants.
This phone is expected to launch in October this year. The source also notes that the device will be on sale both in India and globally.
