Starting the month of October, the TikTok MyRTO tracker app might start tormenting certain workers. This new app is meant to track worker attendance at the office via badge swipes for check-in. Through this means, the short-form video-sharing platform will be able to keep track of workers reporting for duty at the office.
But why is there an app to track whether workers at TikTok check in at the office? Well, this is a result of the work-from-home policy that various firms around the world, including TikTok, gave to their workers during the COVID-19 pandemic. This helped to keep not only the workers safe, but also the entire company by limiting their contact with others by going to the office.
The COVID-19 pandemic is no longer a threat globally, and things are readjusting to the way they were before the global outbreak. Despite this fact, most workers are a bit reluctant to resume work in their respective offices. This is because they have become too comfortable working from home, and TikTok has come up with a nifty plan to get them back to the office.
While the new TikTok MyRTO tracker app reflects innovative thinking, it poses a threat to workers
TikTok expects its employees around the world to get back to the office, but things aren’t moving fast. To combat the unwillingness of staff to return to the office, TikTok rolled out a tracking app. The function of this app is to register an employee’s check-in and also spot missed check-ins if there are any.
Workers who miss their check-in for any reason will be called for questions about the reason for the missed check-in. With this new MyRTO tracking app, supervisors and HR managers at TikTok can monitor workers’ in-person attendance. This app doesn’t track the worker’s every move but keeps a tab on their check-ins to ensure compliance with the return-to-office instructions.
While this new tracking app is great for TikTok, it is going to be a nightmare for certain staff in the company. These include those who have become so used to working from home and prefer it to working from an office. Ever since the pandemic ended, some workers have kicked off office work, but some are still working from home.
Those who prefer working from home are the use of this new app for tracking check-ins. This is because according to TikTok staff, the punishments for missing a check-in at the office are unnecessary. While certain staff feel this way, TikTok doesn’t have the same mindset as the MyRTO tracking app and its usage.
With this new app, most staff members who prefer working from home will begin to show up in offices. TikTok has plans to give most workers some days off within the week, so they can rest and relax. From next month, usage of this app will keep off and employees and TikTok will need to comply with the office check-in to avoid any complaints.
