Lei Jun, Xiaomi’s CEO, held his annual speech yesterday. That was basically an event in which he shared plenty of info, and the company also announced some devices. The Xiaomi MIX Fold 3 got announced, alongside the Xiaomi Band 8 Pro and Pad 6 Max. In any case, during the event, Xiaomi CEO said that he believes high-end smartphones are crucial for the company.

Xiaomi CEO says that high-end smartphones are crucial for the company’s success

To be more accurate, he believes they’re crucial for the company’s success. As many of you know, Xiaomi started as a company that made budget-friendly devices. It still does, but it’s also known as a company that manufactures truly powerful, premium devices now.

While explaining how important high-end devices are for the company, he said “It’s a do-or-die situation for Xiaomi”. He emphasized the need for high-end products, as Xiaomi’s competitors are also making technological advancements, so the company has to compete. That will lay a path for the company’s growth.

That is completely understandable. Smartphone OEMs do make most of their profits in the high-end segment, and it is a way to develop new technologies and push the industry forward.

Xiaomi did show off some impressive devices this year

Xiaomi did announce some impressive devices in the last couple of years. Well, this year alone, the Xiaomi 13 Ultra managed to impress. It is one of the best camera smartphones on the market, and a truly powerful phone in its own right.

During the event we’re talking about there, Xiaomi introduced the Xiaomi MIX Fold 3, its new foldable smartphone. That device is even lighter and thinner than its predecessor, and it has four impressive cameras on the back, with Leica support.

Xiaomi really stepped it up this year, and it remains to be seen what’s next for the company. The Xiaomi 13 Ultra did arrive to markets outside of China, but it remains if the same will happen with the Xiaomi MIX Fold 3.

The Xiaomi MIX Fold 2 did not launch globally, and neither did its predecessor. We don’t have high hopes for the MIX Fold 3, as chances are it will stay exclusive to China. Who knows, though, maybe Xiaomi ends up surprising us all.
