Xiaomi announced the original CyberDog two years ago, in 2021. The company is now back with the follow-up, named the Xiaomi CyberDog 2, which definitely looks less creepy. This bio-inspired robot dog does offer a number of improvements, and it’s actually quite interesting.

This robot got announced alongside the company’s new foldable, the Xiaomi MIX Fold 3, and some other devices Xiaomi showcased during the event. The CyberDog 2 comes with enhanced intelligence, and lifelike characters.
This robot dog is similar in size to a Doberman, and it weighs 8.9kg. It comes with Xiaomi’s CyberBear micro-actuator, which enables it to be quite agile, do backflips, and so on.
Xiaomi made this robot as open-source as possible
Xiaomi says that it designed this robot to be as open-source as possible. The company provides coding, structural drawings, and even graphical programming. The company wants to make things as easy as possible for the developers.
The CyberDog 2 includes an NX processor, 21 TOPS. There are also dual co-processors included, as secondary brains for this robot, basically. The CyberDog 2 is equipped with a depth camera module, Intel Realsense D430, a 13-megapixel Interactive AI camera, an RGB camera and a fisheye camera, and it has a 146-degree FoV.

There are also 4 microphones included here, and Xiaomi’s AI voice algorithm is in use too. Xiaomi included a touch sensor on this robot dog, along with a LiDAR sensor, an acoustic sensor, and a ToF sensor.
The limb count on the CyberDog 2 is 12, and it can run at 1.6m/s. It is also equipped with dynamic balance, fall recovery, and fall protection.
The Xiaomi CyberDog 2 is priced at CNY12,999 ($1,789), and chances are it won’t become available outside of China. It is already available to purchase in Xiaomi’s homeland, though.
