A little while back, we found that the desktop version of YouTube was testing out rounded corners for videos. This would apply to videos viewed in regular mode, not in theater mode. Well, according to Android Police, the Android YouTube app will add rounded corners to its videos too.

This is all a part of a broader change to YouTube’s aesthetic. The company has been making subtle changes to the platform in order to give it a new look and feel. We’ve seen rounded buttons and other Material You influences added to the platform.

Right now, this new change is gradually making its way to devices. So, if you don’t see it, you’ll have to wait a little bit. When you’re on your main video feed, you’ll see that the video thumbnails have rounded corners. You’ll also see some empty space on either side of the thumbnails.

The rounded corners don’t change the look of the interface all too much, but it does give it a slightly different aesthetic. There’s a screenshot below, showing the new design.

One thing to note is that we don’t know if this will apply to the actual video when you’re on its page. We only have the screenshot for the video feed. We’ll need to wait to see if that’s the case when it makes its way to more people.

YouTube is now testing miniature games on the platform. These games will be simple titles that you can play right in the browser. Right now, we don’t know what games are going to populate the roster, but we got wind of one game. It’s called Stack Bounce, and it’s a popular app.

This makes us believe that it will predominantly host mobile games. These games are meant to make people stay on the platform for longer. At this point, we don’t know when YouTube is going to launch these games.
